My days are spent teaching English to the many refugees coming in across the Mediterranean. These year there are many more Sudanese (also South Sudanese) who are fleeing the civil war in their country. The International Rescue Committee reports that Sudan faces the world’s largest and fastest-growing humanitarian crisis, driven by a devastating civil war that erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Approximately 33.7 million people—two-thirds of Sudan’s population—require urgent humanitarian assistance. 14 million people have been forcibly displaced.
